I am a recent transplant from Los Angeles now going to OSU for grad school. I like to think that I am audacious and politically informed. I am 1/3 Mexican and 2/3 Russian/Polish/Ashkenazi. I have a fairly dark/dry sense of humor, and despite having lived in the simmering pot of misanthropy that is L.A. for more than four years, I still believe in love. Weird, I know. I enjoy simple pleasures, like frappucinos, star gazing, absurdism, tweed and dinosaur comics. Tennis is fun. So are musicals and the occasional dance party.

I am sort of a traditionalist, so dinner and a movie seems perfect. Something that is either really good and will provide for a lively discussion, or something really bad we can mock afterwards. However, I love the idea of picnics and beach walks, so that would work too. Something intimate that would get us talking.

I want to make a meal with someone, that is one of my domestic fantasies I guess. Making a meal, something that would be somewhat involved like a souffle or bulgogi, with my partner. I'd also love to try same-sex ballroom dancing. I've seen a few videos of it and I think that would be a lot of fun, not to mention ridiculously romantic.

I love to do anything thought provoking or expressive in nature. For me, fun is taking something apart and finding out how it works (literally or figuratively), so in a way fun is satisfying my curiosity about something. Learning is fun for me. So is dancing to music I would otherwise not listen to.

I look for someone sophisticated but that can laugh at himself, someone not afraid to be intimate or to be tough. I like people who are into science and math because of they way they think--it's different than I do--but they have to be supportive and appreciative of the arts since that is what I am dedicating my life to.
