I live in Phoenix, Arizona, USA (less than a year), and have been really surprised by how hard it's been making friends here, in the gay community especially. I'm originally from the midwest (the Chicago area), and have traveled and/or lived all over this great country - including over 2 years in Los Angeles, where I was an actor and did stand-up comedy - and have never, EVER had trouble making friends or finding people to hang out with, male or female or gay or straight. But as time goes on, I guess I do see a problem with many gay men who think you have an "agenda" in wanting their friendship; as if you maybe REALLY just want to get into their pants, or maybe want to date them.

I have always been facinated - from the heart, not the crotch - with the beauty of Asian men. I write for the adult industry, currently, and have published over 60 short stories of erotica alone ... and notice, even in my writing, that stories featuring any guy other than Asian are sexually INTENSE - but when an Asian man is featured, the tale turns far more romantic, as well. If that doesn't say how I feel, I guess little else would. I've only been in love twice in my life, and the second guy was from Thailand - maybe that had something to do with it?

I don't think so, though - I remember my first crush, back in sixth grade, was a white guy who looked somewhat Asian. Either way, it's just how I feel ...

But I'm a very different gay male overall - and in this way as well. NO WAY am I a "rice queen" for one - plus, I am also a bottom, so I've known my share of white guys who like Asian men because they seek to dominate ... whereas I seek a masculine Asian top, myself. Monogamy is key - a MUST, as well.

But for now, what I seek are FRIENDS around the world - people who'd like to get to know someone, share their culture and their part of the country/world with a former actor/stand-up comic who is intelligent, conversational, funny, sincere, creative, and maybe up for something more in the futre ... but perfectly FINE with just making a new friend. I plan to travel within the next few years, and it'd just be fun to have friends able to show me their world when I do ... and, of course, such friends would always be welcomed in my own home.

After all, you can never have too many friends.

... to learn to swim/scuba dive. I love the ocean, but almost drowned when I was about 11 or 12, and there is still a residual fear of water in me I'd like to overcome.
